Details

The Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State (FACTS) runs one of the most respected Human Remains Detection training programs in the country, offering HRD K9 teams access to outstanding resources and realistic forensic scenarios that are difficult to find anywhere else. Established in 2013 with nationally recognized trainers, the program pairs expert instruction with the unique research environment of a forensic anthropology facility.

Training scenarios are modeled on real cases and span a range of environments, with investigative material ranging from full remains to trace evidence. Teams work the scenarios applicable to their expected missions, and an advanced criminal investigation track is offered for HRD dogs actively deploying in casework. Participation is application-based, with spaces filled first-come, first-served.
