The Working Dog Search & Rescue Summit brings SAR teams together for focused classroom education built around the realities of search and rescue work. Rather than fieldwork alone, the summit strengthens the dog, the handler, and the team's understanding of the work itself, covering the operational, behavioral, technical, and medical sides of SAR.
Sessions include Scent Theory & Canine Behavior (how dogs perceive and work odor in real environments), Search Strategy & Navigation, Drones + Dogs / SAR Technology, Human Remains Detection, Urban Search & Rescue, and Emergency First Aid for Handlers and Dogs. The format gives handlers time to step away from daily demands and give these topics the attention they deserve, while creating room for professional connection and focused learning. Note: a fall 2026 session is anticipated following the spring program; confirm current dates on the organizer's site.
